NASHVILLE -- Nashville Predators goaltender Pekka Rinne is expected to start Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Penguins in his return from a hip injury that has limited him to only nine games this season. Nike Roshe One Mesh Hombre Trainers Grises Amarillas . The Predators recalled Rinne from a two-game conditioning assignment Monday and announced that he would start the Penguins game. "Its a blast to be back playing and feeling good," Rinne said. "I think thats the main thing. Absolutely, Im just super excited." Rinne, who hasnt played in an NHL game since Oct. 22, stopped 33 of 35 shots for a .946 save percentage during his two-game stint with the AHLs Milwaukee Admirals. "Its not in the same level -- the AHL and NHL -- theres a little bit of a gap between," Rinne said. "But still, that was the whole purpose of that trip, just to feel comfortable again, get some games and get that game conditioning going again." Rinne, a two-time Vezina Trophy finalist, has been recovering from an E. coli infection in his surgically repaired left hip. In his last five games before the injury, Rinne went 3-1-1 with a 1.60 goals-against average and a .937 save percentage. The 31-year-old Rinne is returning as the Predators make a late-season bid for one of the Western Conferences eight playoff spots. The Predators are 12th in the Western Conference standings with 62 points. The Dallas Stars, Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks are tied for eighth with 66 points. "You cant just throw a guy in there and expect him to be the saviour," Predators coach Barry Trotz said. "But just getting him back playing is a great boost because you know the type of player that he is, the type of person he is and what he can mean to our hockey team, not only this year but the next year and the following years." The Predators also placed goaltender Devan Dubnyk on waivers Monday. The 27-year-old Dubnyk has played 32 games for the Edmonton Oilers and two games with the Predators this season. Adidas Stan Smith Hombre/Mujer Oro Zapatos . The Nashville Predators were glad their captain was still on their side. Randy Ferbey hit curlings heights, winning national and world titles with regularity. http://www.theeaglesshoponline.com/youth-nike-philadelphia-eagles-11-carson-wentz-elite-green-salute-to-service-nfl-jersey.html . His Alberta team of Dave Nedohin, Scott Pfeifer and Marcel Rocque was a powerhouse, winning the national championship in 2001 to kick off a run of four titles in five years. Ferbey thought about the possibility of getting that lineup back together to take a run at reaching the 2013 Tim Hortons Brier. When those plans didnt materialize, he knew the time was right to retire from competitive curling. "Im leaving the sport that Ive loved," Ferbey said Tuesday from the Edmonton area. "Ive loved competing, Ive loved the years that Ive competed. Its very, very difficult." Ferbey, 52, leaves the sport as one of its most dominant competitors. In all, he won six national titles and four world championships. "The run that the Ferbey team did in the early 2000s was just remarkable," said Ontario skip Glenn Howard. "They basically bulldozed everybody over for five to six years." The idea of playing for a national title on home ice in Edmonton next year was appealing to Ferbey. He said he had discussed the idea with his good friend Nedohin, who told him earlier this month that he had decided to go with a younger team. "So that was it right there," Ferbey said. "I wasnt prepared to play with anybody else. I knew if I wasnt going to play with Dave, I wasnt going to play." Nedohin threw fourth stones for Ferbey. Hes in Lethbridge, Alta., with wife Heather while she skips Canada at the womens world championship. Nedohin said it was a tough decision to form a new team without Ferbey. "Before I made the decision, I talked to Randy about it and he said absolutely, you should have done it a couple of years ago," Nedohin said. "I had a harder time with it than he probably did. "Hes kind of been my sounding board in terms of getting advice on who I should play with and the team I should form. Hes been helpful and really supportive. Id love to have him as my coach. I still feel like Im learning from him. "Hes really been the guy Ive looked up to as the great skip out there in terms of strategy and changing the game and understanding what to do." Ferbey won his first Brier in 1988 as a third on skip Pat Ryans team. The Alberta rink repeated as champs a year later and went on to win the world title. Ferbey, from Sherwood Park, Alta, won his first world championship as a skip in 2002 and added victories in 2003 and 2005. "Playing with Dave, Scott and Marcel -- it was unbelievable," Ferbey said. "Ive gone on record as saying that I believe that we were the greatest team. Not from accomplishments but from a team perspective, I think we were the greatest team ever to play the game. "We played together for 12 years and I dont think anybodys been better -- four individuals -- over that period of time." Ferbey has played on tour this season but did not qualify for the recent Brier in Saskatoon. Albertas Kevin Koe made it to the final but he dropped a 7-6 decision to Howard. Ferbey, who owns an ATM company, said he may play in recreational games and the occasional senior event in the future. Hes looking forward to devoting more time to his family. Ferbey couldnt think of one particular moment that stood out as a highlight. He said that all of his teammates deserve credit for his success over his long career. "I think thats what I built every one of my teams on is the four of us are a unit," Ferbey said. "Theres nobody bigger than one another." -- With files from Donna Spencer in Lethbridge, Alta. LONDON -- Less than a year after pushing to leave Manchester United, Wayne Rooney committed his long-term future to the struggling Premier League champion on Friday by signing a lucrative contract through June 2019. Danny Santana Jersey . The 28-year-old forwards future at United has been uncertain since Chelsea tried to sign him last year, and he had only 18 months remaining on his current deal. But Rooney now looks set to end his playing career at the club he has been at since 2004 after signing a contract reportedly worth around 300,000 pounds ($500,000) a week. The deal makes Rooney the leagues top earner, and softens the blow of potentially not playing against Europes elite clubs next season. In the first season since David Moyes replaced Alex Ferguson, United is seventh in the league with 12 matches remaining, 11 points from Englands fourth Champions League berth. "Its not a massive concern for me," Rooney said on his personal website. "This is because I know the direction that this club is going in, and if we dont make it this season then we will come back stronger and claim a Champions League spot next season. "Lets not forget we still have a chance this year. Some of the other teams are playing well, but we have a strong squad here and if we have a positive end to the season then who knows what can happen." The England national team star has been at United almost a decade, since leaving an Everton team then managed by Moyes. In 403 United appearances, Rooney has scored 208 goals, putting him fourth on the clubs career list, 41 behind record-holder Bobby Charlton. "Wayne has been the best player in England since I put him into the Everton first team in 2003," Moyes said. "Since becoming United manager in July last year, I have enjoyed working with him and seeing just how he has developed his incredible talent. As part of the new contract, Rooney will become a club ambassador when his playing career ends. He already is central to the clubs global marketing operation as one of the teams most high-profile players. "Ive been here since I was 18 and this contract will take me through to my 30s, which is almost my entire professional career," Rooney said. "Ive played most of my best football here and am looking forward to hopefully playing even better football in the next few years." Moyes is delighted to have prevented Rooney from joining a rival. "Everyone would want him in their team," Moyes said. "There were clubs who did want him. There were clubs who would have wanted him, but there was never going to be a chance he was going to leave Manchester United, certainly not on my watch." Convincing Rooney to stay, having already broken the clubs transfer record to sign midfielder Juan Mata last month, should help Moyes persuade other players to join as he looks to strengthen the squad. "Part of the rebuilding is making sure that you keep the players you really want to keep," Moyes said. "We are looking to bring the best players in the world to the club. I think Wayne Rooney is one of them. I will be looking to make more signings in the summer and hopefully add to the quality we already have got." Ervin Santana Jersey . -- Terrell Suggs has signed a four-year extension with Baltimore that saves the Ravens salary cap room and puts the linebacker in position to finish his career in Baltimore. Kirby Puckett White Jersey . - San Diego Padres centre fielder Cameron Maybin is going to be out two to three months after rupturing his left biceps tendon during a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday. DETROIT -- The St. Louis Blues were workmanlike, methodical and -- most of all -- effective on Monday night. Magnus Paarjarvi, Barret Jackman, Kevin Shattenkirk and Jay Bouwmeester scored to give the Blues a 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings. Alex Steen added two assists and Jaroslav Halak made 22 saves for the Blues, who had lost their previous two games. "The first two periods we played the way we had to play," St. Louis coach Ken Hitchcock said. "I think the scoring chances were about even in the first two periods but the zone time was in our favour." Jackman and Shattenkirk scored 1:20 apart early in the second period to break a 1-1 tie. "We had a full team effort, at least for the first 2 1/2 periods," Jackman said. "... The first 50 minutes, I thought we played a total, controlled, very aggressive solid game." Gustav Nyquist scored for Detroit. Jimmy Howard stopped 22 shots before being replaced by Petr Mrazek midway through the second period because of a left knee injury. Its the same knee that caused Howard, one of the Team USA Olympic goalies, to miss much of December. "He got hurt. The same knee, I guess," Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said. Howard is day to day. Detroit came into the game missing several regulars because of injuries. Mrazek made 13 saves. "Well I think we obviously were not good enough from our side," Detroit captain Henrik Zetterberg said. "Still we had it 1-1 after the first, had some good looks on the 5-on-3 (in the second period) there and couldnt really get it going, but in the third their fourth goal kind of ended the game tonight." Jackman broke a 1-1 tie with a screened one-time shot from the high slot at 1:01 off the middle period with the teams playing 4-on-4. Joe Mauer Cream Jersey. It was Jackmans third goal of the season. Shattenkirks goal was on the power play and came on a screened shot from the left point 2:21 into the period. It was Shattenkirks seventh goal. "There was no chance. ... There was no way Howie was going to see any of those," Hitchcock said. "We had two big bodies at the net all the time." Jackman added: "We had a lot of guys going into the hard areas of the ice. Its a lot easier to get the puck through." Nyquists power-play goal tied the game with 27 seconds remaining in the first. He controlled and put in a loose puck during a goalmouth scramble for Nyquists sixth goal and his first in nine games. "They got the power-play goal late in the first period, but we got the momentum back." Bouwmeester said. He got his fourth goal, 2:14 into the third, when his shot from the left point went in off the Red Wings Riley Sheahan. The game was tied at 1 after the first 20 minutes despite St. Louis outshooting Detroit 18-7. Paarjarvi opened the scoring with 8:47 left in the opening period when he banked one in off Howards leg on a wraparound from behind the net. It was Paarjarvis fourth goal. HOUSTON -- Dwight Howard was late for the pregame shootaround. http://www.authenticmarinersgear.com/robinson-cano-mariners-jersey/ . So he knew that playing on his 28th birthday, and against his former team, the onus was on him to both atone and deliver. Done and done. Howard had 20 points and 22 rebounds Sunday night to lead the Houston Rockets over the Orlando Magic 98-88. "I just wanted to get the win tonight," Howard said. "Im just happy our team came out tonight, settled down and played basketball." Howard became the first Rockets player since Ralph Sampson in 1985-86 to pull down 18 or more rebounds in three straight games. Despite the positive outcome, dont expect to see Howard showing up late to any more shootarounds anytime soon. "Bad example," he said. "I shouldnt have done it." James Harden scored 27 points and also had 10 assists and eight rebounds for the Rockets. Terrence Jones contributed 16 points and 13 rebounds. Jones scored 10 a busy third quarter when Houston pulled away for good, extending its lead to as many as 22 points. He also blocked five shots, stopping Victor Oladipo as time expired in the third quarter to preserve an 83-61 lead. Chandler Parsons, who missed two games because of a sore back, started for Houston and had 18 points. "Our starting four and five had 35 rebounds between them," Rockets coach Kevin McHale said. "James went and got eight rebounds, too. So that was big." Glenn Davis scored 18 in Orlandos fifth straight loss. Arron Afflalo finished with 16 points and Jameer Nelson added 15. "We just didnt play well," Davis said. "We cant make shots. Its not about the shots. Its about the defence. Everybody needs to be held accountable in making sure they do what they need to do, or its going to be a long season." Howard got off to a slow start offensively, but he amassed nine quick rebounds in the first quarter, thanks in part to the Magics 7-for-22 shooting. This was Howards first game against Orlando in a Rockets uniform, having faced his first former team last season while with the Los Angeles Lakers. Orlando made Howard the top pick of the 2004 NBA draft. He played for the Magic from 2005-2012, once led the team to the finals and remains Orlandos all-time leading scorer. The Magic shot just 27.7 per cent (13-for-47) from the field in the first half. But they benefited from at-times lacklustre rebounding the Rockets, which led to second-chance points that allowed them to loiter around. Orlando appeared poised to give the Rockets a tough test, scoring nine straight points to take a 9-2 lead. But the burst was brief. "We just came out sluggish and werent contesting shots, and we werent rebounding," Howard said. "We had to pick our energy level up, and thats what we did." The Rockets hurt the Magic from the 3-point line, making seven of 11 to erase that run by Orlando in the first quarter. Houston finished 10-for-33 from 3-point range against 8-for-29 for Orlando. The Magic cut Houstons lead to 28-25 with a burst of hustle to open the second quarter, capped by a 3 from ETwaun Moore. Thats as close as Orlando got the rest of the way. NOTES: The Magic missed C Nikola Vucevic (left ankle) for a third straight game. ... Rockets G Jeremy Lin (right knee) missed his sixth game but participated in pregame workouts. ... Houston tallied 10 blocks, its fourth double-digit game of the season. Robinson Cano All Star Jersey . PAUL, Minn. http://www.authenticmarinersgear.com/ichiro-suzuki-mariners-jersey/ . Laughton, a centre with the Ontario Hockey Leagues Oshawa Generals, is representing Canada internationally for the third time.MARTINSVILLE, Va. - Kyle Busch has seen it time and again at Martinsville Speedway. Driving down pit road, heading back onto the track and in contention for the lead, Busch is used to seeing the pole-sitter gun the engine just off the jack and reassume the race lead. Busch hopes to finally get to experience that for himself at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday after earning the pole on NASCARs smallest, tightest track for the first time in 19 career starts. "I think thats a great thing for us," Busch said after winning the pole with a lap at 99.674 mph. "We get to pit there and of course drop the jack and just lunge across the line and be good. "You need to still run up front all day. I think that its a great opportunity for us to pick up some spots say if were second, third, fourth, whatever, but you definitely always want to stay as close to the front as you can and try not to use that box as much as some guys have in the past." The pole is the 14th of Buschs career. In an interesting twist under NASCARs new knockout qualifying system, Busch won it while Joey Logano set a track record. That came at 100.201 mph during the first phase of two-session qualifying. All 44 cars competed in the 30-minute first session, and the top 12 moved into the 10-minute phase two. Denny Hamlin earned the No. 2 starting spot with a lap at 99.548 mph, and will be followed on the starting grid by Logano and Hendrick Motorsports teammates Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. That puts Busch in some pretty accomplished company because Hamlin (4), Johnson and Gordon (8 each) have won a lot. Busch, though, is coming off a victory last week at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif., and while he said it wasnt dominaating, it gave him hope that the Joe Gibbs Racing teams are coming together. Robinson Cano Green Jersey. "It just seems to be working well right now, whatever is working," he said. Hamlin, who promised earlier in the day that he would win on Sunday, wasnt in love with the outside starting spot because it can be tricky to get down to the bottom on restarts from the outside, said nothing that happened in practice or qualifying made his change his view of how it can all unfold. "I knew, even going into this weekend, I knew we were going to be really good contenders and be in the mix anyway," he said. "I feel like after running a couple laps of practice I felt like this was a car that was capable of winning. I think with tire management being more of a factor than its ever been, it kind of lends itself to my driving style even more. For that reason I think well be tough on Sunday." Logano has two top-10 finishes on the 0.526-mile oval, but none since 2010. "So weve got a track record, but we dont have a pole. How does that work?" he asked. A solid pit position, he said, could help turns things around on Sunday. "Obviously, the pit stall is very important, especially here. Its a dangerous pit road, so you want to get a nice spot you can get in and out of, but obviously here its a slow pit road and you can make up a lot with timing lines on pit road," he said. "For that reason alone its big, and thats worth multiple spots throughout the race when youre thinking about making a lot of pit stops." Danica Patrick qualified 10th, her best starting spot in a race not held at Daytona. Her previous best starting position was 21st, accomplished twice last season. DUESSELDORF, Germany -- Top-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber claimed his fifth ATP World Tour trophy by defeating Ivo Karlovic of Croatia 6-2, 7-6 (4) in the Duesseldorf Open final on Saturday. Kyle Singler Thunder Jersey . The 35-year-old Karlovic fought back in the second set after Kohlschreiber went ahead 4-3. It looked like a decisive break but the seventh-seeded Karlovic took it to the tiebreaker, where Kohlschreiber let two match points go before ultimately claiming the win in 72 minutes. It was the 30-year-old Germans first title since 2012, when he won his home tournament in Munich. Four of his five titles have been on German soil. Kohlschreiber had lost two of his previous three meetings with Karlovic, who was playing his first clay-court event final since 2007, when he won his only title on the surface in Houston. Anthony Morrow Thunder Jersey . Stones three-point effort helped lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a 5-3 victory against the Red Deer Rebels. Jordan Fransoo, Alessio Bertaggia and Darian Dziurzynski also scored for Brandon (19-12-2). Russell Westbrook Authentic Jersey . Brooks scored 10 of his 14 points in the fourth quarter against his former club, spearheading a 101-92 victory over Boston on Friday night and helping snap a franchise-record eight-game home losing streak. Even though it took a shootout, the defeat at Chizhovka-Arena stands out as one of Canadas more embarrassing losses in recent history at this tournament. Its just the second time Canada has lost to France, the last coming in regulation in 1995. "Its good to have adversity early, it tells your team just how hard its going to be and France played a very strong game," Canadian coach Dave Tippett said. "They capitalized on their power play and they got the extra point in the shootout, so congratulations to them." The two latest matchups between these teams at the IIHF World Hockey Championship ended in 7-2 and 9-1 victories for Canada in 2012 and 2011, respectively. Canada entered the 2014 tournament 8-1 all-time against France. Pierre-Edouard Bellemare scored the shootout-winner for France. Stephane Da Costa, a part-timer with the Ottawa Senators, had each of Frances regulation power-play goals. Brayden Schenn and Erik Gudbranson scored for Canada. Former NHL goaltender Cristobal Huet shined in net for France. James Reimer was saddled with the loss for Canada. "I think we made a few mistakes, but thats to be expected when youre kind of rusty and coming back and so were going to get better every game and well be better next game," said Reimer, who finished with 26 saves. Reimer was tested plenty in the early going, stopping a point-blank attempt from Dallas Stars forward Antoine Roussel short-handed three minutes in and turning French captain Laurent Meunier away a bit later. His best save of the first period came at the 11-minute mark on Da Costas big windup from the right faceoff circle. Da Costa broke through near the end of the period with Canadas Alex Burrows in the penalty box for tripping. After defenceman Yohann Auvitus point shot hit Reimer in the pads, the puck bounced out to thee Ottawa Senators minor-leaguer, who snapped it in at the 17:03 mark to give France a 1-0 lead. Kevin Durant White Jersey. . It didnt take long for Canada to respond. Nathan MacKinnon drew a hooking penalty on Meunier with 35.4 seconds left in the first period, then Cody Hodgson fed Schenn for a power-play goal with 16.2 left to tie it. Canada came close to taking the lead a couple of times in the second period, no closer than when Morgan Rielly got a shot off from the right faceoff circle that Huet snagged with his glove at 11:46. Turnovers by young defencemen Tyler Myers and Erik Gudbranson brought some danger for Canada, but each time Reimer was challenged he came up big. With the seconds ticking away before intermission, Reimer made a big stop on Bellemare to get through the first 39 seconds of a five-on-three penalty kill. Canada killed off the remaining 28 seconds of the five-on-three early in the second before Troy Brouwer took another slashing penalty just 11 seconds later. Gudbranson gave Canada the lead 10:42 into the third period on a goal that was confirmed by video review. Gudbransons shot from between the faceoff circles hit the left post and went in off Huet. Da Costa scored again for France at 13:35, lifting a backhander over a sprawling Reimer to ignite cheers from an anti-Canada, pro-underdog France crowd at Chizhovka-Arena. It was a power-play goal as Jason Garrison was off for slashing and came right after defenceman Braydon Coburns turnover. Tippett pointed to turnovers and penalties as the primary culprit for one of Canadas worst losses in the past decade or so. "Its how costly they are to you when youre playing a team that is just playing not to lose because every time you turn the puck over or take a penalty, theyre just waiting for that advantage," he said. "Theyre just waiting for you to make a mistake and they feel like thats when they can make up for the discrepancy, possibly, in talent."
