SINGAPORE -- Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel recorded yet another start-to-finish win at the Singapore Grand Prix on Sunday to further extend his lead in the Formula One championship. Braxton Miller Jersey . The German was in a class of his own under the Marina Bay lights, winning by a massive 32.6 seconds over Fernando Alonso and boosting his championship lead on the Ferrari driver from 53 points to 60 with six races remaining. "We are in a very good position. To be honest I am not looking at the championship too much," Vettel said. "I am just enjoying it at the moment. Days like today and yesterday are what it is all about." Lotus Kimi Raikkonen was third, ahead of the Mercedes pair Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton in fourth and fifth respectively. Starting in pole, Vettel lost the lead at the first corner to Rosberg but took it back as the Mercedes driver ran wide at turn two. Even a safety car period just before half distance, which eroded his 12-second lead, could not prevent another Vettel victory. "The start was quite hairy, Nico had a good start, but fortunately he went a little too deep and I was able to get him back," Vettel said. "With the safety car, it was difficult but we came back ... we had very, very good pace." Red Bull teammate Mark Webber had sharply different fortunes in the race. As the Australian was threatening Raikkonen in the closing stages, he experienced an engine failure that saw him pull off the track with his car in flames on the closing lap. Webber hitched a ride back to the pits on the sideboard of Alonsos Ferrari, and that was enough for both drivers to receive a reprimand from stewards as three cars had to take evasive action as the Ferrari stopped and the Red Bull man clambered on board. For Webber, the reprimand has serious consequences because it is his third of the season, meaning he will receive a 10-place penalty on the grid at the next race in South Korea. Alonso was in a generous mood after an impressive showing. The Spaniard got a superb start, going around the outside of several drivers to vault from seventh to third after two corners, and capitalized on the emergence of the safety car by pitting for his final stop, taking on a set of the harder tires which he drove for the last 36 of 61 laps. "We knew we didnt have the pace today, we had to invent something," Alonso said. "I had a good start and a different strategy ... it tastes like a victory to us." Raikkonens participation in the race had been in doubt due to a back injury that affected him badly in Saturdays qualifying, but the Finn sliced his way through the field in the latter half of the race to move up from 10th to a podium finish. "Luckily not too much (pain during the race) but now, afterwards, its not 100 per cent but I have time to rest and get it right," Raikkonen said. "Third place -- we could not have expected any more today." Ferraris Felipe Massa was sixth, ahead of the McLaren pair Jenson Button and Sergio Perez in seventh and eighth respectively, with Saubers Nico Hulkenberg and Force Indias Adrian Sutil completing the top ten. Vettels victory was his third in a row in Singapore, his seventh of the season, and 33rd of his career, moving him out of a tie with Alonso and into outright fourth place on the all-time list behind Michael Schumacher, Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna. Vettel also won from pole in the previous F1 race in Italy and took the lead on the opening lap of the Belgian GP, meaning he has now led effectively from start to finish in three successive races. With such dominance over his dispirited rivals, only an extraordinary turnaround can prevent Vettel winning a fourth-straight championship, joining Schumacher and Juan Manuel Fangio as the only men to achieve that feat. Ferrari had said prior to the race that the result in Singapore would determine whether to continue development of the car or to turn all resources to the radically redesigned 2014 vehicle. Alonsos second placing will likely be enough to keep Ferraris mind on this year, but the Spaniard was realistic about his fading title hopes. "The gap is still increasing every weekend and now its 60 points," Alonso said. "We need to be honest with ourselves. We need a lot of luck every weekend if we are one second (per lap) off their pace." Derek Newton Texans Jersey . 8 Iowa State on Saturday, sending the Cyclones to their third consecutive loss. In an interview with Fox Sports televised Sunday, Incognito said he never took the threat seriously. Incognito said he regrets the racist and profane language he used with Martin, but said it stemmed from a culture of locker-room "brotherhood," not bullying. "A week before this went down, Jonathan Martin texted me on my phone -- I will murder your whole ... family," Incognito said, quoting Martin as using a profanity. "Now did I think Jonathan Martin was going to murder my family? Not one bit. ... I knew it was coming from a brother. I knew it was coming from a friend. I knew it was coming from a teammate. That just puts in context how we communicate with one another." Responding to the interview, Martins attorney tweeted the message Incognito quoted. The message was accompanied by two photos of a laughing woman holding a dog, suggesting it was intended as a joke. "JMarts text 2 Richie Incognito. U decide....." attorney David Cornwell tweeted. That was the only response by Cornwell or Martins agent to requests from The Associated Press for comment on Incognitos interview. Incognito said Martin also sent him a friendly text four days after leaving the team to undergo counselling for emotional issues. The message came on the heels of the Dolphins overtime victory against Cincinnati. "Wassup man? The worlds gone crazy lol. Im good tho congrats on the win," Martin said in a text verified by Fox Sports. "Yeah Im good man. Its insane bro but just know I dont blame you guys at all. Its just the culture around football and the locker room got to me a little." Martin left the team two weeks ago, and Cornwell alleges the second-year pro was harassed daily by teammates, including Incognito. Martin hasnt spoken publicly but will discuss the case late next week with a special investigator hired by the league. "This isnt an issue about bullying," Incognito told Fox. "This is an issue of my and Jons relationship. You can ask anyone in the Miami Dolphins locker room who had Jon Martins back the absolute most, and theyll undoubtedly tell you me. Jon Weeks Jersey. "All this stuff coming out, it speaks to the culture of our locker room, it speaks to culture of our closeness, it speaks to the culture of our brotherhood." Incognitos phone showed 1,142 text messages between the two players over the past year, Fox reported. The network said Incognito declined to answer only one question: Did coaches order him to toughen up Martin? The NFL will investigate the role of coach Joe Philbin, his staff and Miami management in the case. The Dolphins (4-4) play for the first time since Incognito was suspended when they face Tampa Bay (0-8) on Monday night. Incognito is white and Martin is biracial. Teammates both black and white have said Incognito is not a racist, and theyve been more supportive of the veteran guard than they have of Martin. Incognito acknowledged leaving a voicemail for Martin in April in which he used a racist term, threatened to kill his teammate and threatened to slap Martins mother. "When I see those words come up across the screen, Im embarrassed," said Incognito, adding that Martin used the same racist term "a lot." "Im embarrassed by my actions. But what I want people to know is the way Jonathan and the rest of the offensive line and our teammates communicate. Its vulgar. Its not right. ... I understand why a lot of eyebrows get raised when people dont know how Jon and I communicate to one another." Incognito said he never sensed that football or the locker-room culture were getting to Martin. "As his best friend on the team, thats what has me miffed -- how I missed this," Incognito said. "I never saw it coming." Long labeled one of the NFLs dirtiest players, Incognito acknowledged his reputation for out-of-bounds behaviour -- and the impact the much-quoted, threatening voicemail has had on his image. "It sounds terrible. It sounds like Im a racist pig. It sounds like Im a meathead. It sounds a lot of things that its not. ... If you go just by all the knucklehead stuff Ive done in the past, youre sitting in your home and thinking, This guy is a loose cannon. This guy is a terrible person. This guy is a racist. That couldnt be farther from the truth." Incognito said if he met with Martin and his family, he would apologize for anything they took as malicious. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '
TSNs Jack Armstrong offers his thoughts on the Christmas Day extravaganza, including the Nets struggles, the improvement of Serge Ibaka, the feisty Mario Chalmers, the performance of Chandler Parsons and the lane presence of DeAndre Jordan. Jordan Reed Redskins Jersey . 1. BROOKLYN NETS: I know Brook Lopez is a good player but come on now. The Chicago Bulls didnt have Derrick Rose and Luol Deng wasnt suited up and they get their tails kicked at home. What I see is a team thats disjointed and just not on the same page in terms of what the plan is. Injuries and the lack of practice time with a healthy group have been factors no doubt but when I see inconsistent effort and lack of fire/passion, then I wonder. I think we all thought this team would be so much better. Now what? Tough decision for GM Billy King. Theyve gone all in with this group and it will be a difficult fix. 2. SERGE IBAKA (Thunder): Each time I watch him, Im more and more impressed with what I see. Hes continuing to improve his game and has become a very nice third piece to compliment Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook. Plays the game very hard. Relentless in his rebounding effort, finishes in the lane and has become so much more confident in his face-up game and jump shot. He was so raw when he first entered the league but not anymore. Its a true testament to his work ethic. 3. MARIO CHALMERS (Heat): Doesnt get a lot of attention on this team yet hes a feisty perimeter defender and gets the ball to the right places at the right time. Is a guy that can hurt you with the 3-point shot and loves the big moment. Perfect complimentary fit for this club. You dont need to run a lot of plays for him and the style of play is good for his game. Has a really good motor and compete level and playing with such great players has taught him to slow down and concentrate on making the smart play which he does with better consistency. 4. CHANDLER PARSONS (Rockets): Never thought hed be this good as a pro when he came out of the University of Florida. Not a big, strong guy and when you look at him, hes far from a physically imposing figure yet at an explosive/demanding position, hes more than held his own. His performance yesterday against the Spurs was one of pure efficiency and productivity with 21 points, six rebounds and six assists. He makes you guard him from deep (5- 3 Pointers) and has a neat change of pace with his ball skills. Plays the game at a controlled speed yet with superb energy and awareness. A keeper. 5. DE ANDRE JORDAN (Clippers): He gives his team the lane presence that is so important to win consistently in the NBA. Gets 13 rebounds and six blocks against the Warriors and takes only terrific high percentage shots in the lane, usually on offensive rebounds or off of Chris Paul penetration for dunks. As we get into the playoffs in April, Ill be curious to see if Doc Rivers continues to play him major minutes, particularly late in games with his shaky free-throw shooting. Rivers has made it a point of emphasis to play him and boost his stock and compliment him and its paid dividends in an improved player. With coaches leaning towards playing small and adding skill to the court in bigger games, this will be an interesting dynamic to watch develop. Doug Williams Redskins Jersey . SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- Heavy fog allowed Brian Gay a quick nap, and he no longer felt so sluggish after travelling halfway around the world from Shanghai to Sea Island. Gay had enough energy Thursday to make eight birdies on his way to a 7-under 63, giving him a share of the lead with Briny Baird among early starters in the McGladrey Classic. The opening round could not be completed because of a fog delay lasting nearly two hours. Once the sun burned off the fog, the Seaside course was a pushover with virtually no wind. George McNeill ran off five straight birdies and was 8 under with two hole remaining. Will MacKenzie reached 7 under through 16 holes until dropping three shots in two holes for a 66. The morning fog off coastal waters could not have been better for Gay. "I was super tired," he said. Players were told the round would resume when the fog lifted. Gay didnt want to stand around on the range. He also wanted to stay loose. So he took a chance by going into the locker room at Sea Island, relaxed in a leather chair for a quick nap and then warmed up for the second time. "I felt pretty good when I teed off," he said. "I felt like I had a lot more energy." The McGladrey Classic is the third event in Gays most unusual itinerary -- four PGA Tour events in four weeks in four countries. He started two weeks ago at the CIMB Classic in Malaysia, and then flew eight hours to Shanghai for the HSBC Champions. He would not have played this week except that its only about three hours from his home in Orlando, Fla., and he loves the Seaside course. And then hell finish out the fall portion of the PGA Tour schedule next week in Mexico. Scott Piercy and Boo Weekley also were in China last week, and each opened with a 67. Calgarys Stephen Ames also shot a 67. No one was as thrilled with the start as Baird, who is returning from surgery on both shoulders. Baird last played a PGA Tour event in 2012 when he started feeling pain in his left shoulder, and then his right shoulder. He tried a cortisone shot and rehab before he realized surgery would be required. He had the operations only a month apart, and then tried to return too soon by playing Web.com Tour events. Finally, hes healthy enough to swing a club and even lift his shoulders over his head. He would like to think hes strong enough to lift a trophy over his head, thoughh its something Baird has never experienced. Su a Cravens Redskins Jersey. This is 365th start on the PGA Tour, and he still hasnt won. It bothers him, though not as much as people might think. "Id probably rather be the guy thats won the most money and not won than the guy who has won the least amount and won once," Baird said. "When you hear that catch-phrase, that does drive you a little nuts that were only out here playing for trophies. I kind of cringe at that because thats not true. Otherwise, wed just be donating our money to charity and living in huts. So its not entirely true." One aspect about that is true -- Baird needs money to keep his full PGA Tour card. He is on a major medical exemption, meaning he needs $463,399 to reach a level that would allow him to keep his card the rest of the season. Webb Simpson, who won in Las Vegas last month for his first win this year, was at 65 along with Kevin Kisner, Kevin Chappell and Seung-yul Noh. Gay finished the HSBC Champions in time to get to the airport for a 6 p.m. flight home -- nearly 14 hours to Chicago, two more hours to Orlando, a short layover in between. He tried to relax Monday, but he has been getting up in the middle of the morning and figures hes a few days away from recovering from his jet lag. There was nothing wrong with his game that a few long putts couldnt fix. Gay usually has his caddie read the putts, but after he missed an 8-footer on the first hole, his caddie left that part up to him. Gay didnt use him the rest of the way, and he was helped by rolling in three putts from the 30-foot range. "I wasnt feeling very good at all this morning," Gay said. "Ive struggled the last few days sleeping and been really tried. But a nice day. Solid. Hit the ball nice, made a couple of long putts. Just a good day." McNeill had a few fleeting thoughts of a 59 when he made his fifth straight birdie to get to 6-under with eight holes remaining. He missed an 8-foot birdie at No. 2, and when faced with a tough par-saving putt, he realized he should worry more about his next shot than his odds of breaking 60. He had to return Friday morning with 49 other players to finish off the round. Mike Weir of Brights Grove, Ont., opened with an even par 70, while David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., turned in a 4-over 70. Ottawas Brad Fritsch was 3-over through 11 holes. NASHVILLE -- The Tennessee Titans got a very big win over the New York Jets. Stefan Savic Atletico Madrid Jersey . Their celebration is muted while they wait to see if they lost their quarterback. And if they did, just for how long. Jake Locker threw a career-high three touchdowns before injuring his hip seriously enough to send him to the hospital, and the Titans finished off a 38-13 rout Sunday of the Jets for their second straight victory. Locker was hurt with 11:14 left in the third quarter when hit first by Muhammad Wilkerson after throwing an incomplete pass, then popped by Quinton Coples. He grabbed at his hip as he went to the ground and was taken from the field before being loaded into an ambulance. Titans coach Mike Munchak did not have an update or a diagnosis after the game. "When its your quarterback, it seems to hurt more," Munchak said. A person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press that Locker was spending Sunday night in the hospital. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the Titans had not updated Lockers condition. The Tennessean first reported Locker was being admitted to St. Thomas Midtown Hospital. Alterraun Verner intercepted two passes and recovered a fumble, Karl Klug sacked Smith and stripped him of the ball for a TD as the Titans turned Smiths four turnovers into 28 points. Ropati Pitoitua had two of Tennessees five sacks as the Titans (3-1) continued their surprising start. The Jets (2-2) couldnt overcome Smiths rookie mistakes, especially not after receiver Stephen Hill was knocked out of the game with a head injury on the second offensive play. Smith had one fewer turnover than Mark Sanchez did last December when the Jets lost to the Titans 14-10 in an ugly game between two teams headed to 6-10 finishes. The Jets cut their penalties in half from a week ago when they had 20, but it wasnt enough with all the turnovers. "It shocks me," Jets coach Rex Ryan said. "I never expected for the game to turn out like this. Certainly a shock. I dont know what else to say." The Jets now get to look for answers. The Titans already have half as many wins through the first month as they managed all of 2012, and they joined the 1995 St. Louis Rams as the only teams in the Super Bowl era without a turnover through the first four games. But the victory was overshadowed by Lockers injury. Wilkerson said he didnt realize Locker was hurt and that the referee told him it was a clean hit. "It was a clean hit," Wilkerson said. "If it was late the ref would have thrown a flag. They didnt throw a flag." Locker missed five games last year with a dislocated shoulder, an injury that affected him throughout the season. Fully healthy, Locker was starting to play like the franchise quarterback the Titans wanted when they drafted him No. 8 overall in 2011 out of Washington. Against the Jets, Locker completed passes to seven different receivers with TD passes to Delanie Walker, Nate Washington and rookie Justin Hunter for a 24-6 halftime lead. "It was a really big shot," Chris Johnson said of losing Locker. "We had a lot of momentum, everything going our way and just for the play to happen like that ... it just kind of sucked it all out of us." Ryan Fitzpatrick, signed in March to back up Locker, started slowly coming off the bench. But he connected with Washington on a 77-yard TD during which the receiver went up for the ball away from Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie, knocked down back judge Billy Smith as he landed and then ran to the end zone for a 38-13 lead midway through the fourth quarter. "I was brought here for a reason, and the reason I was brought here was to help Jake out and be ready for a situation like this if it came up," Fitzpatrick said. The Jets managed one TD drive in the fourth quarter as Smith threw a 34-yard pass to Jeff Cumberland. Nick Folk kicked a pair of field goals. It just wasnt enough with the Titans blitzing Smith and hitting him repeatedly. Verner stepped in front of Hill and intercepted Smiths first pass at midfield and ran it back 34 yards with safety Michael Griffin levelling Hill after the catch. Verner also recovered a fumble after Titans linebacker Zach Brown chopped the ball away from Smith, setting up Lockers second TD pass. Verner got his second interception late in the first half to set up Lockers third TD pass to Hunter. "The balls just finding me right now," Verner said. Philadelphia was handed a 6-3 loss by the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday afternoon before dropping a 4-1 decision to the Rangers the following night in New York City. BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Sergei Bobrovsky and the Columbus Blue Jackets keep finding ways to win. The Blue Jackets gave up a game-tying goal with 24.9 seconds to play, but used Ryan Johansens shootout goal to extend their winning streak to six games in a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night. "Every night we have to find a way to get points," said Bobrovsky, who made 26 saves and didnt allow a goal in the shootout. "Thats why we play. Its our goal to be in the playoffs and we have to take points to be there. It doesnt matter how and who we play." Columbus rallied from 1-0 and 2-1 deficits to take the lead on a Brandon Dubinsky goal in the third period, but had to regroup again after Myers goal sent the game to overtime. "Its a tough thing to give up a goal in the last minute of the game but this is a group thats faced adversity all season long," Dubinsky said. "And instead of cowering to it and conceding to just one point, we stuck our heads down and went after them. "Im really proud of this bunch and the way we stuck together through some adversity." David Savard and Matt Calvert also scored in regulation for Columbus. Tyler Myers had two goals for Buffalo, and Drew Stafford also scored. The Sabres have lost three straight. The Blue Jackets winning streak matches the longest in franchise history set on April 3, 2006. "Right now for me its just a stat," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "Weve done a good job putting ourselves back in the fight and right in the middle of it." Columbus improved to 24-20-4 after winning just 14 of its first 35 games. Dubinsky said the win streak speaks volumes of his teams improvement. "It says were finding ways to win games and were getting points," Dubinsky said. "Were getting some swagger here and some confidence. The Blue Jackets played Friday night at home against Washington as Buffalo looked to capitalize on a hot start from the line of Tyler Ennis, Matt Moulson and Drew Stafford. The Sabres struck just 59 seconds into the game when Moulson sent a soft pass across the ice to Myers, who had crept in from the right point and lifted a shot over Bobrovsky to put Buffalo up 1-0. Columbus countered when a one-time shot from Savard off the right half wall caught Ryan Miller out of position to tie the score at 6:19. The tie lasted just 28 seconds. A poor Blue Jackets breakout left Ennis alone in front off Bobrovsky. Fernando Torres Atletico Madrid Jersey. The Sabres centre slid the puck to Stafford at the left post, and he slid it into the open net at 6:47. "They played a tough game last night," said Ennis, who finished with two assists and seven shots on goal. "We wanted to jump on them early." Miller made an athletic save on a 2-on-1 break midway through the first period, reaching behind his body to make a glove save on RJ Umberger. He finished with 32 saves. The Blue Jackets tied it at 2 after a Myers boarding penalty gave them the games first power play. Calvert whiffed on a backhand attempt, but pushed a second chance past Miller at 12:44 of the first. Buffalo had a goal disallowed 24 seconds into the second period. Moulson was judged to have used a distinct kicking motion to put the puck behind Bobrovsky. "The league is screaming for goals and all of a sudden, I dont know how you can kick it and try to stop at the same time," Sabres interim head coach Ted Nolan said. A power-play goal gave Columbus its first lead at 11:21, as Dubinsky took advantage of crowded Buffalo crease with his rebound goal. The Blue Jackets needed a right pad save from Bobrovsky on Moulson during a late Sabres power play, but finished the second period with a 3-2 lead. Buffalo didnt score on its first three power plays, and the last was an abbreviated one when Stafford was hauled down behind the Columbus net with 36.4 seconds to play in regulation. Nolan called timeout, Buffalo won the faceoff in Columbus zone and Myers sent a wrist shot past Bobrovsky. Myers almost scored a third goal in overtime, but his low shot went wide of the goal. Johansens game-deciding goal required patience. Miller stayed with the third-year mans shootout attempt until an opening appeared just as Johansen reached the crease. "I thought the play was dead, I really did," Richards said. "When he got there, I thought, Oh, hes got nothing and he got it up quick on his glove side." The Blue Jackets are off until Tuesday, when theyll host Los Angeles in the first of a three-game homestand. Buffalo is 6-1-3 in its past 10 home games after beginning the season 3-12-1 at First Niagara Center. Theyll next face Florida on Tuesday in the second of three straight at home. The club hopes to break out of its slump on Friday when it welcomes the Columbus Blue Jackets for a battle at Rogers Arena. The Canucks have lost five straight games and have scored a total of six goals during the 0-3-2 stretch. The only time Vancouver managed to score more than one goal during the slide was in its last game, a 3-2 shootout loss on Tuesday night against the Florida Panthers. The loss to the visiting Panthers dropped Vancouver to 1-0-2 so far on a six- game homestand. The Canucks are only 4-4-2 on home ice this season, but tonights opponent has had little success playing British Columbia over the years. Columbus has dropped six straight in Vancouver and hasnt won at Rogers Arena since a 5-3 decision on Oct. 5, 2009. The Canucks did lose earlier this season in Columbus, as R.J. Umberger scored the game-winner in the third period to lift the Blue Jackets to a 3-1 win. Curtis McElhinney stopped 37 shots for Columbus to earn the win, which was just the third victory for the Jackets in the past 15 encounters between the clubs. Vancouver fell behind 1-0 to the Panthers less than four minutes into the game, but the Canucks eventually held a 2-1 lead early in the third period. However, Shawn Matthias tied the game at 2-2 for Florida with 11:26 to go in regulation and Jonathan Huberdeau scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Panthers the win. Florida goaltender Tim Thomas stopped all three Vancouver attempts in the tiebreaker. Columbus, meanwhile, is playing the fourth part of a five-game road trip on Friday and is 2-1-0 on the swing so far. The Blue Jackets won the opener of the trip in Ottawa by a 4-1 score before getting absolutely destroyed in a 7-0 defeat Tuesday night in Edmonton. However, Columbus was able to right itself after the lopsided loss to the Oilers, picking up a 2-1 overtime win the following night in Calgary. Nikita Nikitin scored the game-winner 2:25 into overtime to lift the Blue Jackets to the rebound victory on Wednesday. Flames goalie Reto Berra was able to stop a shot from point-blank range, but David Savard found Nikitin in front of the net and Berra was unable to recover in time as the puck crossed the goal line for the win. Nick Foligno also scored and Nikitin had an assist for the Blue Jackets. Sergei Bobrovsky turned aside 23 shots in the win. "I thought we battled," Columbus head coach Todd Richards said. "We got the win. We got two points, which is important." Bobrovsky expects to get the start tonight and is 1-0-2 with a 1.05 goals against average in four career outings against the Canucks. Luongo is 10-5-5 with a 2.11 GAA in 20 lifetime starts versus Columbus. Wholesale Jerseys China ' ' '

Phoenix was coming off 4-1 and 6-1 losses at San Jose and the New York Islanders to begin a five-game road trip. "We figured out what we have to do to be in a hockey game," said Mike Smith, who made 28 saves. Derek Morris and Antoine Vermette both had a goal and an assist, and Mikkel Boedker also scored for Phoenix. Stone fired a slap shot from the right point that went through teammate Martin Hanzals screen and caromed in off the far goal post. It came 2 seconds after a Coyotes power play ended. Stephen Weiss, who received a hooking penalty with 6:49 left, had just come out of the penalty box. "Got an opening and a chance to shoot," Stone said. Andersson and Ericsson had goals 53 seconds apart early in the second period to give the Red Wings a 2-1 lead. "I didnt think we played very well," Red Wings right wing Daniel Cleary said. DOHA, Qatar -- George Coetzee of South Africa needed just 21 putts to shoot an 8-under-par 64 for a one-shot lead on the opening day of the Qatar Masters on Wednesday. Erik Pears 49ers Jersey . Coetzee eagled the par-5 10th hole and birdied his closing three holes in a round that was just two shots more than his best on the European Tour, a 62 which equalled the Old Course record at St. Andrews in Scotland 15 months ago. "I was quite lucky to get away with a few shots," he said. "Theres a lot of luck involved in this game, especially the way I play, and I had 21 putts with a three-putt, so that goes to show." On 7 under were Dawie Van Der Walt, among five South Africans in the top 13, and Steve Webster of England, who began in spectacular manner by holing a 254-yard, 5-wood second shot for an albatross at his opening hole, the 548-yard, par-5 10th. There were only two spectators around the green, and one of them was jumping up and down and pointing in a downward motion. "I didnt know whether he was inferring it had gone over the back of the green and onto rocks, but then when I got up there he starts clapping," Webster said. "Ive never been 3 under after one hole before, so it was all a bit strange after that. You start thinking is this my day, or have I had all my luck on the first?" It was the second albatross in three events this year, whereas there was just one on the tour in 2013. Webster, who celebrated his 39th birthday last Friday, picked up five birdies over his next 12 holes to lead on 8 under, then dropped a shot at his 15th. Four players were in fourth place on 6 under, while the former British Open-winning trio of Ernie Els, John Daly and Scotlands Paul Lawrie were among a group at 5 under. Els ended the first round in his 25th anniversary pro career season holing a 35-yard bunker shot on 18 for eagle. "That was a dream finish, thats always going to put a smile on your face," said Els, the 2005 Qatar winner. "I played quite nicely all day but didnt quite get my share of putts, so that bunker shot at the last really made up for everything." Lawrie also had an eagle, on the 16th, while Daly birdied his first three holes and two of his closing three. "Ive started off this year putting really, really well, and just made three bombs to start with today," Daly said. "But I just got into trouble a couple of times with the driver, so it was my putting that kept me in there." Henrik Stenson bounced back from missing the halfway cut last week in Abu Dhabi with a 68. U.S. PGA champion Jason Dufner, competing in Qatar for the second year running, carded 70. A 30-minute delay due to fog at the start of the day meant three players were unable to complete the round due to darkness. Craig Dahl 49ers Jersey . Dallas hasnt ruled out the star quarterback for Sunday nights game against Philadelphia, but all signs point to Romos back injury pushing Kyle Orton into the starting role after two years of limited play as the backup. Surely Ortons name isnt the first that comes to mind for fans wanting a change after years of damaging interceptions, fumbles or, most infamously, the field goal flub when Romo dropped the snap on a kick that could have won his first playoff game in 2006. Now that hes hitting streaking teammates with pin-point passes for easy layups, Love is asserting himself as one of the true superstars in the league. Love had 32 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists to lead the Timberwolves to a 116-108 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night. Six of Loves assists came in a sensational first quarter, and he connected with Corey Brewer on three length-of-the-court outlets to get the Timberwolves offence rolling. "The guy can throw a chest pass 100 yards," Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said. "He should be an NFL quarterback and he can throw chest passes to the receivers." Kevin Martin added 32 points and five rebounds and Corey Brewer scored 17 points to help the Timberwolves snap a two-game skid. "Eight assists, I think, was great," Love said. "Guys were just cutting and I was leading them, whether it was in the half court or hitting them on the fast break." Jose Calderon made 6 of 8 3-pointers and scored 21 points for the Mavericks. Monta Ellis scored 23 points and Dirk Nowitzki added 14 for Dallas. The Mavericks played without trusted reserve Vince Carter, who was suspended for the game for elbowing Oklahoma Citys Steven Adams on Wednesday. The Wolves led by 11 in the third and eight with less than 4:30 to play, and had to hold their breath down the stretch. Calderon hit his sixth 3 of the night and Ellis scored on a drive to the bucket to make it 105-102 Minnesota with 2:24 to go. Love, who just missed his first triple-double of his career, hit a 3 on the other end, Ricky Rubio foiled Elliss drive to the basket and Love sealed it with a 17-foot Nowitzki-style fade-away on the baseline with 1:13 to play. "Thats why he gets paid the big bucks," coach Rick Adelman said. Nikola Pekovic had 15 points and six rebounds for Minnesota. Jae Crowder had 10 points and six rebounds for Dallas. TThe new-look Mavericks have been one of the best offensive teams in the league, with Ellis and Calderon making a seamless transition and flourishing as role players surrounding Nowitzki. Cornellius Carradine 49ers Jersey. Ellis has been remarkably efficient in comparison to his volume shooting ways with the Warriors and Bucks, entering the game shooting 55 per cent on 2-pointers. That efficiency wasnt there on Friday night as Ellis needed 24 shots to score 23 points. "We couldnt get a stop," Calderon said. "But it wasnt just the last three or four minutes, it was kind of the full fourth quarter we were just trading baskets with them. We couldnt get two in a row or three in a row." The Wolves appeared to be taking control midway through the third quarter with a 16-4 surge that put them in front by 11. But the Mavericks came right back, getting two 3s from Calderon and another from Ellis during a 13-3 run that cut the deficit to one point. For much of the game, Love was the Timberwolves best passer, even with Rubio on the floor. He hit Brewer for several home run passes and racked up six assists in an outstanding first quarter. He also had nine points and six rebounds in the period. Rubio had six points on 2-for-8 shooting and four assists and he was bottled up for most of the night by Spanish countrymen Calderon, who didnt fall for the sleight of hand that Rubio uses to keep defenders off balance. Calderon also had seven assists and four rebounds. "Things didnt go our way tonight," Crowder said. "I dont think it was too much what they were doing. We knew exactly what they were going to do. Of course their offence was rolling tonight, and we didnt get stops when we need to." NOTES: Carter said at shootaround that he wished he could take the elbow to Adams back, but couldnt and felt bad for putting his team in the position of not having him available for the game. ...
