In a year that already has proved to be massive for the UFC, with one major card after another, UFC 205 on Nov. Nike Roshe Two Flyknit Mens . 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York looks to be the biggest and most important of them all. In honor of such a marquee event, ESPN.com is providing dedicated previews to all 13 bouts on the card, breaking down whats at stake and projecting who will win, along with quotes and statistics for each fighter.Lightweights: Jim Miller (27-8) vs. Thiago Alves (21-10)Odds as of Nov. 2: Alves (-165), Miller (+145)Dana Whites thoughtsJim Miller is always exciting. You never watch a Jim Miller fight and go, Oh, what happened? That guy just didnt show up tonight. Hes one of those guys who just goes. Hell stand with you if you want to stand, but hes also great on the ground and has had some great ground wars. And Thiago, I think everybody the last couple years has been moving around weight classes and if hes still the Thiago we used to know at this new weight, that should be a really good fight.Whats at stake?Miller: From retirement talk to win streak in less than six monthsA strange feeling came over the veteran Miller on March 5 as he stepped into the Octagon to fight Diego Sanchez at UFC 196. It was something he had never felt in his entire career. That was the first time I actually kind of didnt want to be there, Miller said. That was a tough one for me, and it was for a million different reasons.Miller, 33, decided long ago that whenever his career ends, it will happen immediately after a fight, while hes still inside the cage. He wants that farewell moment on the microphone, to let his fans know its over. In order to guarantee that moment, Miller said he has to know ahead of time, going into a fight, that its his last one.He thought that was going to be the case at UFC 200 in July. After performing poorly and not feeling right at UFC 196, Miller asked for a fight at UFC 200. He figured it was the perfect time and place to say goodbye. But when he got into that fight camp, Millers body responded better than he thought. Things turned around quickly and he ultimately decided that wouldnt be his last fight. He has won two in a row since. It started off like it would be my last run, but I got back to feeling like my old self, Miller said. Its different now. I know what its like when Im off, but I also know when Im feeling good. I know by the results in the gym -- theyre back to where they should be, where they used to be a couple years ago.It went pretty quickly from All right, lets just get through this and put on a show to I think I can stay in this for a while.Alves on weight cut: Im gonna make all these lightweights payAlves is tired of looking up to the opposition -- literally. The veteran welterweight will make his long-awaited lightweight debut at UFC 205, and hell do it without the assistance of longtime nutritionist Mike Dolce. Alves is working with a new nutrition group ahead of his first cut to 155 and feels confident about the process, even though he actually has struggled in the past to make the 170-pound limit.Im gonna make weight and Im gonna feel great -- thats actually the slogan of the company Im working with, the 5-foot-9 Alves said. I know the morning of the weigh-in, Ill have the whole world asking, Is he gonna make it? Thats exciting for me because I love to prove people wrong.Ill be one of the biggest lightweights in the division. I had to lose 10 pounds of muscle and 10 pounds of fat. Ive lost a lot of muscle and Im gonna make all these lightweights pay for that s---. We shouldnt be losing muscle, man, especially doing what we do, but thats what was necessary and my body feels great.I was just giving up a lot of reach and height as a welterweight. All my last fights, these guys were 6-foot-2. Its tough fighting giants.Alves, 33, has never recaptured the magic of a seven-fight win streak that led to a title shot at UFC 100 in 2009. But in a new weight class, under a new lifestyle, he doesnt think it will take long to get a title shot.A lot has changed since the last time I fought [in May 2015], Alves said. Im a father now. I got married. You guys used to see the young, dumb Pitbull. Now youve got an adult.Im not looking ahead. I know Ive got to get through Miller first. But I think it makes complete sense to give me a top-5 opponent next and then the title. Thats the goal.Statistical comparisonMiller: 27-8 record (16-7 UFC); on two-fight win streakMiller: 16 wins in UFC lightweight division tied for most all time with Gleison TibauAlves: 21-10 record (13-7 UFC); first fight since May 2015Alves: 11 knockdowns landed in UFC fights, tied for eighth most all timeBreakdownAlves said it in plain English: Hes looking forward to fighting opponents with less reach. His knockout power stacked up fine at 170 pounds, but the same wasnt always true of his frame. That doesnt mean he wasnt (or still couldnt be) effective at that weight, but you cant blame him for dropping down.Although he has expressed confidence, its worth asking how that cut to 155 will go. Miller likely will look to set a high pace on the bigger man and his grappling can be deadly, especially if his opponent tires. He does have a tendency to get into prolonged exchanges, which is good for his entertainment value but perhaps bad against a dangerous finisher like Alves.PREDICTION:?Miller by third-round submission. It started with a hoverboard.Near the height of the popularity of the handleless-riding devices, Alex Scales brought one to the gym for his usual workout. One thing led to another, and a trick-shot series was born.I was on a hoverboard messing around at the gym, Scales said. One of my guys was like, I bet you cant make it from there. So I just shot a 3, and then I made it, and it just caught on from there. In an effort to keep things fresh at his workouts, Scales turned that one video into Trick Shot Tuesday, a series where he posts new and increasingly impressive trick shots every week on his Instagram account. The shots have enjoyed plenty of viral moments and multiple appearances on the SportsCenter Top 10.The one that really caught fire was the one I did the actual push-up on, he said of the video that shows him making a hook shot from half court while doing a push-up off of the basketball. That was probably one of the hardest ones that Id done, because of the fitness you need to be able to have to do it.Scales doesnt have any long-term plans for his trick-shot game, aside from growing his Instagram following (hes currently hovering just above 2,000). Nor does he spend too much time practicing his craft in the gym at Arizona State where he works out. He said he usually comes up with the shot for Trick Shot Tuesday that day and often completes the whole process -- from conception to practice to filming the final product -- in about 30 minutes.I had one where I kicked it. I was like, You know what, Im only gonna give it five tries. After these five tries, Im done, Scales said. Then I made it on the fifth try. It just depends on the difficulty of the shot. Some of the ones that people are like, Man, that was crazy, that looked difficult, Im like, That was one of my easier shots. Those who dont know Scales background might think its improbable that hed be able to complete trick shots with such ease. But hes not just a random person posting trick-shot videos on Instagram. Scales spent 15 years as a professional basketball player and once held an NBA record -- for the shortest career.Scales, who went undrafted out of Oregon in 2000, made his NBA debut -- and farewell -- on Nov. 19, 2005, for the San Antonio Spurs, playing just 9.2 seconds at the end of a 97-91 win over the Phoenix Suns. He shared the court with future Hall of Famers Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, along with ESPNs Bruce Bowen, who had his number retired by the Spurs in 2012.A week later, Scales was waived and never got another shot at the NBA. San Antonio was his fourth and final stop in the league, after he had preseason stints with the New Jersey Nets, Houston Rockets and Seattle SuperSonics. Scales thought he had his best shot at an NBA breakthrough in Seattle. Nike Huarache Ultra Breathe White. .When I was with Seattle, there was a great write-up about me, he said. This is when Rick Brunson had his first guaranteed contract. They had written in the paper that [the Sonics] had a million-dollar question: Do they keep Rick Brunson or Alex Scales? Ray Allen was quoted in the paper saying, Alex Scales is the only one playing like he belongs here. The Sonics cut Scales at the end of the preseason, and then he was picked up two weeks later by the Spurs. It was the third time in his career that he thought hed done everything he needed to do in the preseason to make the roster, only to end up on the wrong end of the waiver wire.It was just a sad situation to see a guy who did everything he was supposed to do, was productive when he got in the game, to not get an opportunity, he said. Because I felt like if I would have gotten that opportunity, I wouldve been something special. With the NBA door closed to him, Scales went to the D-League and eventually back to Europe, where hed started his professional career in 2000 in Italy. Scales last played professionally for Tadamon Zouk in Lebanon, the culmination of a 15-year career that saw him also make stops in China, Argentina, South Korea, Spain, Greece, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and Puerto Rico. When he was in China, he had his most memorable experience of culture shock.I wanted some shrimp, so they come out, they bring me some shrimp, he said. Its got the eyes, the legs -- Im like, Man, what is this? Im not used to this shrimp!Scales first played in China in 2001-02, before Yao Ming came over to the NBA, and again two seasons later, when the NBA boom was just beginning in the country. He said its been impressive to watch how much the game has grown in China, but he does regret one aspect of that. The pay [in China] is 18,000 times more than what it was then, Scales said. I tell people now that I grew up in the wrong era.Now 38, Scales knows the window is closing on his basketball career, but hes trying to keep it open as long as possible and says hell listen to any team that calls to inquire about his services. But until then, hell keep making trick-shot videos every Tuesday, and he hopes they can entertain and motivate people. If something comes up out of it, itd be great, but at the same time, I like doing it to see peoples reactions, he said. People are like, I could never do anything like that. But I always emphasize that practice makes perfect, so theres always something youre capable of doing if you put your mind to it. So thats why I go about it. Cheap NFL JerseysCheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From ChinaCheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys' ' '
